Thoughts on the Biggest Loser's Season 9 Premier on January 5, 2010

Those of you who read my blog regularly no that while I watch the Biggest Loser regularly, I have some real problems with it. It could be so much better than it is, and provide a lot of inspiration and help to those who need to lose weight. Instead, it's just another stupid reality show, that does a great job in distorting reality, and not providing enough nutritional and caloric information to really help people lose weight.

Some random thoughts I had while watching the first episdoe of Season 9

Dump Jillian Michaels and bring back Kim Lyons.

One season, I really want one of the Biggest Loser contestants to hit screaming Jillian right in the kisser :) She's hardly motivational.

I still think the winner of Biggest Loser should be the contestant who comes closes to hitting a medically approved ideal weight.

Average Biggest Loser Season 9 Contestant Weight is 328.9. pounds

Men's average is 394---Women 291.

Season 9 Biggest Loser men are unusally tall---making it even more difficult for a woman to win. Average man's height is 6'1". 3 contestants are over 6'4". Two are 6'5".

Historically, a weight loss of 50% will win it. If James or John lose 50%, they'll weigh in at 242---not very healthy, but they are 6'5".

Oops, I forgot Michael. His starting weight is 562. 50% would be 263. Not great on on 6'3" frame, but a lot healthier than he is now.

For the women, it's a lot harder. A 50% weight loss for 5'1" Sherry would have her weight at 109 pounds---a bit underweight, I would say.
