Cinnaminson Pet Owners--take notice

Cinnaminson Pet Owners---did you happen to notice the notice from the township that appeared on Page A5 of the Burlington County Times Monday, January 18th edition?

It's a notice about Cinnaminson Dog Licenses---they are renewed in January, and the paper has a form for you to mail, along with a $12 fee.

In bold print appears this statement:

"Over the summer the Township performed a census of dogs and cats. Addresses were noted and the database updated for dogs and cats that were seen or heard - summons and fines could be issued. Please license your dog or cat."

Is the township serious about this? I can't recall seeing anyone walking (or driving) through my part of the town this summer looking for dogs and cats.

Can a fine or summons be issued on the basis of a dog or cat being seen or 'heard' in someone's yard?

My neighbor has visiting dogs in her yard all the time--many of her relatives own them.

And there's always a cat in my yard---but I can assure you, it's not mine.

At any rate, you have until January 31st to get your $12 fee to the township (plus a $3 surcharge for dogs not spayed or neutered.)
