NJ teen drivers will pay $4 for license decals

New Jersey drivers younger than 21 will pay $4 for a pair of license plate decals they'll be required to display starting May 1.

The state Division of Motor Vehicles said it has awarded a $664,000 contract to a Chicago-based firm to manufacture the reflective red stickers.

They're designed to help police identify vehicles operated by teenage drivers so officers can enforce restrictions on passenger limits and a night driving curfew.

The decals are required under "Kayleigh's Law," named in memory of a 16-year old central New Jersey high school student killed in a car driven by another teen in 2006.

This is the worst law it does nothing. If any driver of any age is breaking the law pull them over if not leave them alone. A Military person is home on leave or back from Iraq he/she goes with two buddies for an ice cream cone mind you obeying all laws and speed limits no drugs or alcohol or reckless driving they will now be pulled over and given a ticket if under 21. Outrageous they are fighting for freedom and some idoitic politicians are screwing us all from it in the name of fines and oh yeah satefy give me a break!!
